What if I do not have enough money on my card to cover expected hotel incidentals at checkin?

I have prepaid for a hotel room and am concerned that my funds will be locked up by the hotel for approximated incidentals. I do not have a lot of extra money and do not plan on using any fee based services upon arrival.

What happens if I give them my debit card and there is not enough money available to cover the 15%-30% hold for incidentals? What if I do not have enough money on my card to cover expected hotel incidentals at checkin?
you don't need to give the hotel your debit card they just ask for it but its not manditory.

if you don't give them your debit card they will ask for some personal info so that if you do get charged for an incidental they know where they can send the bill to.

if you are driving they will take your license plate

if your not driving they will make a copy of your id card.

they may ask for your home address and phone number.

you never HAVE to give them a debit or credit card for incidentals.

i stay at hotels a few times a year and ask for my credit card and i always say i rather not put one on file and then they ask for an id card to copy just incase they need to charge me for something so they know where the bil should be sent.
