because you're the first impression that guests get of the hotel so if your hygene is good then it makes them think that the rest of the hotel is in good order.... if you can't keep yourself clean, you can't keep much else clean

depends...if its a sleazy hotel...no. But if it is a high-class hotel, yes it is essential! That's why I only go to classy hotels on trips!
